The Truth About Fluoride Water Filtration Systems

If you’re like most people, you probably grew up being told that fluoride is good for your teeth. After all, it’s often added to public water supplies and is even recommended by dental professionals. However, there is a growing body of evidence that suggests that fluoride may not be as harmless as we once thought. Let’s take a closer look at some of the potential risks associated with fluoridated water. When it comes to your health, it is important to be as informed as possible. This includes knowing about the dangers of fluoride and how  water filtration systems can help remove it from your water.

What’s Fluoride?
Fluoride is a mineral that is found in water, toothpaste, and many other products. It is often added to water to help prevent tooth decay. However, too much fluoride can be dangerous. It can cause brittle bones, problems with the thyroid gland, and even cancer.

A water filtration system can help remove fluoride from your water. There are many different types of water filtration systems available on the market, so it is important to do your research before you purchase one.

How Does Fluoride Get into Water?
Fluoride naturally occurs in water. It can also enter water through pollution from factories or waste disposal sites. In some cases, fluoride may be added to water deliberately to prevent tooth decay.

The amount of fluoride in water varies depending on where you live. Water in Canada generally has more fluoride than water in other countries. This is because the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates the amount of fluoride that can be added to public drinking water supplies. The EPA does not regulate private wells, however. This means that the amount of fluoride in well water can vary depending on the surrounding area and the type of rocks and soil that the well is drilled into.

Is Fluoride Bad for You?
Fluoride is essential for healthy teeth and bones. However, too much fluoride can be detrimental to your health. Some of the potential health risks associated with fluoridated water include:
Problems with the thyroid gland : Fluoridated water can interfere with the production of thyroid hormones, which can leadto problems such as weight gain, fatigue, and depression.

Birth defects :

Pregnant women who drink fluoridated water have an increased risk for giving birth to babies with deformities.

Fluoride Causes Dental Fluorosis
Dental fluorosis is a condition that causes white spots or streaks on the teeth. In mild cases, it may not be noticeable. However, in more severe cases, it can lead to brown or yellow staining, pitting, and even tooth loss. While dental fluorosis used to be rare, it’s now becoming increasingly common due to the widespread fluoridation of public water supplies.

Fluoride May Harm cognitive Function in Children
Studies have shown that children who live in areas with high levels of fluoride in the water supply are more likely to have reduced IQ scores than those who don’t. There is also evidence to suggest that fluoride exposure during pregnancy may harm cognitive development in babies.

Fluoride May Increase the Risk of Bone Fractures
Fluoride can weaken bones and make them more susceptible to fracture. This is particularly problematic for elderly people who are already at an increased risk of falls and fractures.

What can Quinn water filtration systems do to the fluoride?

While more research needs to be done to confirm the exact risks associated with fluoride exposure, there is enough evidence to suggest that it may not be as harmless as we once thought. If you’re concerned about your exposure to fluoride, consider investing in a water filtration system in your home is a great way to protect yourself and your family. Filtered water is also simply better-tasting and more refreshing, so it’s a win-win!

it is a common misconception that these systems remove hard water minerals in the same way as their salt-based counterparts.
